BANGS — The Bangs Lady Dragons took on their second District 8-3A opponent in pre-district volleyball action on Friday — the Llano Lady Yellow Jackets — and came away with a 25-13, 25-16, 25-18 defeat.

Offensively, Kinsie Ward finished with nine kills for Bangs trailed by seven from Rikki Loman and four each from Kady Kyle and Jaylee Roberts.

Cheyenne Lovelady distributed 21 assists, while Kyle served two aces and Roberts and Kylie Allen added one apiece.

On defense, Lovelady’s 11 digs were a team-high followed by eight from Allen and six from Ward.

The Lady Dragons (8-7) — who return to action at 6 p.m. Monday when Dublin visits — also played 8-3A member Brownwood in August and were dealt a four-set setback.

“We are learning from our losses, but that is not how I want us to get to the next level,” said Lady Dragons first-year head coach Colleen Westfall. “Llano had hard serves and we haven’t experienced that this season. Every time Llano was in a must-have point situation, the setter would put it over on the second hit. It’s another lesson learned as we continue to work hard as a team.”
