The biggest week of the year in Brownwood has arrived, and volunteers for the 12th annual Brownwood Reunion Celebration will come together at a rally from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center to wind up their enthusiasm.

The celebration itself will begin Friday, and continue through Saturday and through the afternoon Sunday.

While the varied activities are under way throughout, concerts featuring top entertainers are a major attraction. On Friday, Rick Springfield will perform at 10:30 p.m. capping an evening during which Blackbird and Three Shades Blue will perform. Zak Webb will sing the National Anthem.

On Saturday, Wade Bowen will perform at 10:30 p.m. after shows by the Brenda Kay Band, and Mark Powell and Lariat. Merideth Underwood will sing the National Anthem.

Sunday afternoon concerts will be performed by Brian Potter, Strange Trade, Sun City and Free For All. Shows will begin at 5 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m.

Tickets are on sale for $15 in advance, and for $20 at the door.

The Celebration covers 23 city blocks with tents, booths and stages continuous live music, nationally known entertainment and “activities for children of all ages.”

Business and civic sponsors and approximately 1,500 “hands-on” volunteers create the celebration each year.
