Colt Bertrand threw for six touchdowns Thursday night as the Brownwood JV Lions defeated Snyder, 42-22.

Ceth Hardy grabbed five of the scoring receptions covering 65, 17, 22, 15 and 48 yards. Cody Richardson also caught an 18-yard touchdown pass.

Defensive standouts included Connor Vara, Amador Puentes and Isaac Sanchez.

The JV Lions will return to action Thursday at Abilene Wylie.

Freshman Lions 34, Snyder 14

The Brownwood Freshman Lions collected their first victory of the season Thursday by a 34-14 count over Snyder.

The Lions trailed 14-7 at halftime, but outscored Snyder 27-0 over the final two quarters.

Quarterback Grant Lewis completed 3 of 6 passes for 42 yards with a touchdown. Top receivers included Rylee Gregory with two catches for 21 yards and Corey Richardson with a 21-yard scoring reception.

Leading rushers included Carson Cloy with 79 yards and two scores, Garrett Doyal with a 50-yard run, Brandon Diaz with 43 yards, Leland Harris with 26 yards and a touchdown, Lewis with 25 yards and Nathan Sanchez with 18 yards.

Offensive linemen Hayden Day, Carlito Gonzales, Christian Peters, Graham Sharpe, Mario Saldana, Tristan Chesser and Kory Owen led the way for a rushing attack that produced 248 yards and three touchdowns.

Colt Garrett added a two-point conversion and Blake Steele was 2 for 4 on extra point attempts.

Defensively, Bruce Sterling returned an interception 31 yards for a touchdown, while other standouts included James Nash, Christian Peters and Bubba Reynolds.

The Freshman Lions will travel to Abilene Wylie on Thursday.
