Dr. and Mrs. John L. Humphrey celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Saturday, Sept. 15, with their children in Austin. They were married in the Coggin Avenue Baptist Church on Sept. 12, 1952. Dr. Humphrey graduated from the University of New Mexico with a B.S. in Chemistry, from SMU with a B.S. in Pre-Med Science, and he then received his M.D. Degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston after their marriage. He was in private medical family practice in Brownwood for 40 years. He is now retired and taking care of his longhorns on the old family farm near Bangs. They have two children living in Austin, Dodie Brown and Lee Jack Humphrey, three grandsons, and one granddaughter. Mrs. Humphrey, “Lou”, enjoys designing and sewing clothing. She has been a member of the Junior 20th Century Club for over 35 years. She also enjoys playing bridge. Dr. and Mrs. Humphrey plan to travel during their retirement.
