The Brownwood Reunion Celebration may not be so much of a reunion, but it is a double anniversary for a Brown County couple.
Mike Driscoll and his wife, the former Nita Ward, met for the first time during Reunion weekend in 2007, and they were married during Reunion weekend in 2009.
On Saturday, the Driscoll celebrated by driving their unique wooden car in the Feels Like Home Grand Parade.
“We actually met on the web,” Driscoll said, “but we didn’t see each other until Reunion weekend in 2007.” Driscoll had been living in Arizona when their Internet relationship began. Interest in each other grew until they decided to meet, in Brownwood.
“We were eating at Skillets, and I asked her what there was to do in town,” Driscoll said. “I had come on the right weekend.”
The two of them took in the attractions at the 2007 Reunion, and a Brownwood Bulletin photographer snapped a photo of the couple watching a magic show. The photo was published in the Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, Bulletin — documentation of the first time the couple met.
