Carl A. Horne age 97 of Brownwood passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at a local nursing home.
Carl was born April 12, 1915, in May, Texas, to George and Effie McAllister Horne. He was married to Etta Turnell in Coleman, Texas, on Aug. 30, 1949, she preceded him in death in 1988. He was Cowboy on several ranches in Coleman and McCulloch Counties for most of his life, while also caring for his sick wife and working for Earl Horne Plumbing and Horne Pipe and Supply Inc. Carl served in the United States Army in World War II from January 1942 to September 1944. He was a member of the Brownwood Evangelism Center.
He is survived by one Brother Ernest “Pete” Horne of Salem Or; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Etta; brother, Earl Horne; and sisters, Alene Horne and Willie Heptinstall.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at the Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Colegrove officiating. Interment will follow in the Cox Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, at Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
