Early and Bangs High School cheerleaders along with the Early High School Belles Dance team are asking people from all over the county to pull with them – together for a community-wide “Pink-out” and fund-raiser to benefit people in Brown County who are battling cancer.
Long-time school rivalry aside, dance team and cheerleaders from both sides of the field are teaming together for this very important goal, said Marie Algiere, sponsor for the Early Belles dance team. Both Bangs and Early groups are taking orders for pink “Supporting the Cause” that feature a purple Early Longhorn and a green Bangs Dragon, or, for the fans who can't “cross over” shirts with a single mascot can also be ordered. The fund-raiser has the theme “Two Teams With One Goal!”
All of the money raised will go to Brownwood Regional Medical Center’s Walker Cancer Center to help provide cancer patients with wigs, travel expenses, prosthetics, over-night stay expenses, breast prostheses and many of the added expenses patients have to face as they are trying to recover, Algiere said.
The pink “Supporting the Cause” T-shirts must be pre-ordered and only the number ordered will be available. Shirts are $13 for sizes youth small to adult extra large, $15 for 2X and $16 for 3X. Orders may be placed through either the Early High School or Bangs High School and must be placed by the end of the school day Monday, Oct. 8.
Any of the Bangs cheerleaders, Early cheerleaders or members of the Early Belles, can also take orders.
Early cheerleaders and mascot are Aimee Lawrence, Callie Campbell, Athena Brindle, Kandalyn Burleson, Preston Smith, Sarah Smithey, Cassidie Henry, Emily Harris Peige Smith, Beale Madison Gordon, Holli Hullum and Hunter Desemar. Early Belles include Logan Speck, Lindy Davis, Sarah Jackson, Lauren Fanara, Colleen Hardy, Beth Anne Carrier, Chaeli Stalcup, Katie Ryan, Anna King, Breanna Zeigler, O’Coee Carrio, Haleigh Lobstein, Ashley Poole, Krista Plaster, Sydney Singleton, Alice Carter and Anna Rose Hamilton.
Bangs cheerleaders and mascot include Kady Kyle, Kassidy Adams, Kylie Allen, Kinzey Funderburk, Shelby Glover, Rachel McDonald, Charly Lipsey, Lakyn Dent and Sarah Garcia.
Order forms are available at the school offices, the Bangs Independent School District website www.bangsisd.net or the EISD website www.earlyisd.net.
“Willie’s T’s will be printing the shirts and also donating $1 for every shirt sold,” Algiere said.
“The goal is to fill the stands on Oct. 19 at the Early Longhorns vs. the Bangs Dragons football game at Longhorn Stadium,” Algiere said.
“During halftime activities, there will also be a special recognition of cancer survivors,” she added. “We want to 'Pink Out' Longhorn Stadium and come together as a community to support one cause.”
