Both the Howard Payne Lady Jackets soccer and volleyball teams are in action Tuesday with a pair of non-conference games against Southwestern University.

The Lady Jackets soccer team (2-4, 2-2) is bound for Georgetown in search of its first win streak of the season after knocking off Louisiana College in Pineville on Saturday.

Game time is slated for 7 p.m.

Howard Payne’s 1-0 Saturday road win featured a team goal with 5:21 left in the first half.

Defensively, Adrienne Walker posted a shutout in goal with six saves as Louisiana College attempted 11 shots.

Howard Payne fired off nine attempts with four on goal, including two by Leslie Jones and one from Shannon Costello.

The Southwestern Lady Pirates are 1-8 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

The Lady Jacket volleyball team (8-8, 4-4) will also attempt to start a new win streak when Southwestern invades the Brownwood Coliseum at 7:30 p.m.

Howard Payne’s season-best three-game win streak — all of which occurred against American Southwest Conference competition — was snapped during the ASC Crossover this past weekend, but the Lady Jackets ended the event with a 3-1 victory over LeTourneau.

HPU and Southwestern have already clashed once this season with the Lady Jackets coming out on the short end of a 3-0 decision on Sept. 8 at the Austin College tournament.

Sarah Bishop led Howard Payne with eight kills in the first match, Allison Eaton recorded 12 assists and four aces and Shelby Bridges chalked up 11 digs.

The Southwestern Lady Pirates are 11-4 overall and 3-0 on conference play.
