Squaring off for the second time this season, the Howard Payne Lady Jackets were unable to gain a measure of revenge against the No. 25 Southwestern Lady Pirates Tuesday night.

Southwestern picked up a  25-16, 25-21, 25-19 victory over HPU in the first meeting at the Austin College tournament on Sept. 8, and left the Brownwood Coliseum with a 25-22, 25-17, 25-17 win Tuesday.

Offensively, Taylor Jordan paced the Howard Payne attack with 11 kills followed by nine from Hannah Hicks, eight from Sarah Bishop, two each from Tolli Wylie and Carlee Ammons and one by Sarah Davies.

Allyson Reed distributed a team-high 12 assists for HPU and served one of two aces, along with Shelby Bridges.

On the defensive end, Bridges notched 11 digs trailed by eight from Bishop, seven from Reed, five from Jessica Guerra, four from Jordan and two from Hope Richardson.

Jordan played a role in two blocks, while Davies and Ammons had a hand in one apiece.

The Lady Jackets (8-9, 4-4) will attempt to rebound at 7 p.m. Friday when they visit the University of Dallas.
