Since the discovery of female remains fitting the description of Michele Reiter, friends and family of Reiter have been preparing for the worst. Preliminary results from an autopsy of the body found in Coleman County Monday confirms the identity of the deceased as Reiter.
Neither friend nor family, Erocia Poindexter said she knew she needed to do something to help Reiter’s family. Poindexter, Angie Fields and Melissa Sliger have organized a barbecue lunch benefit help Reiter’s family with funeral expenses. The fund-raiser will be from 10 a.m. to sell-out Saturday at the both Bruner Auto locations.
“First, my goal was to help bring Michele home,” Poindexter said. “Now, it’s about getting the family closure and helping them with the unexpected expense.”
The lunch plates will include a brisket sandwich, chips and a drink for $6. A silent auction and a raffle will also be held Saturday.
“The members of Iron Horse Riding Club will be cooking all the briskets for Saturday,” Sliger said. “We’ve been able to get items donated from Spa on the Creek, Main Street Carwash and more.”
