A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper identified the two young women who were injured in a one-vehicle rollover accident Thursday morning as:

Miranda Elizondo, 18, of Brownwood, flown by helicopter ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

Brenya Simental, age 17 or 18, of Brownwood, flown by helicopter ambulance to Hendrick Hospital in Abilene.

No information was available early Thursday afternoon on their conditions.

The accident happened around 7:40 a.m. on U.S. Highway 183 North, about a half-mile north of the Owen Community turnoff.

Trooper Chris Delgado said he had not yet determined who was driving the 1998 Isuzu Trooper. Both women were ejected, evidence at the scene indicated they were not wearing seat belts, Delgado said.

The women were southbound in the Trooper and the vehicle somehow ended up leaving the road to the left and ended up in a ditch, Delgado said. The driver turned the steering wheel hard right, getting the vehicle back onto the road, then turned the wheel hard left, starting the rollover. Delgado said it appeared the Trooper rolled 3 1/4 times and came to rest on its passenger side.

Law Enforcement officials stopped traffic as two helicopters one from Air Evac Lifeteam, the other from Native Air landed on either end of the accident scene to fly out the two women.
