LLANO ? Joe Bob Sherrod, 74, of Llano, Texas, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012. He was born on Sept. 28, 1937, to Mabel V. (Wilson) Sherrod and Oren Sherrod in Brown County, Texas. Joe was married to Jerrie Means on Jan. 11, 1958, in Brown County, Texas. He served in the National Guard from February 1956 until February 1964. He later worked for the Telephone Company for 20 years.
Joe was a gunsmith by trade where he did repairs and made custom guns. Joe was a great hunter and he loved the outdoors. He was a long time member of the Llano County Clay Busters and participated in Cowboy Shoots, where he had many friends. Joe was also a member of the Lutie Watkins Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jerrie Sherrod of Llano, Texas; son, Joe David Sherrod of Spicewood, Texas; daughter, Cathy Klafehn and husband Mark of Flower Mound, Texas; his four grandchildren who all loved being outdoors with him, Josh, Sherrod, Meagan Klafehn, Jordon Sherrod and Emma Klafehn; uncle, Ross Wilson of Stephenville, Texas; cousin, Sherrod Shaffer and wife Janice of El Dorado, Kan.; brother-in-law, Bill Means and wife Cynthia of Brookesmith, Texas; and sister-in-law, Mary Edgar and husband Duke of Early, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Friday, at the Waldrope Hatfield Hawthorne Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, in the Jordan Springs Cemetery in Brown County, with Sherrod Shaffer officiating.
