Darvin C. “Dobby” Roberts, age 69, of Brownwood, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 26, 2012, at the Abilene Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Jimmie Mize officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
He was born June 29, 1943, in Brownwood, the son of the late Darvin C. and Annie Jo DePriest Roberts Sr. He was married to Ira Sue Hicks in Brownwood on July 28, 1961. He retired from the Texas Youth Commission working in the warehouse supply and was a Baptist. He was a big NASCAR racing fan and a Texas Rangers baseball fan. He had lived all his life in the Brownwood area and will be missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Ira Sue Roberts of Brownwood; a daughter, Teena Dickerson and husband Stewart of Early; a son, Rocky Roberts of Early; two grandchildren, Cody Dickerson and wife Amanda of Abilene and Kayla Dickerson of Early; a sister, Teresa Phillips and husband Gerald of Early; his aunts, Doris Eckert and Quida Jackson both of San Angelo.
