Brownwood police arrested a man Monday on an allegation that he selected a 47-inch flat screen television in the electronics department of Wal-Mart and wheeled it out the door, unpaid for, in a shopping cart.

Officers made contact with the man after he walked across the parking lot and onto Belle Plain. Officer Zane Taylor arrested the man, identified as Lekurt Fisher, 21, of Brownwood, on a charge of theft and criminal trespass, police and jail records state.

The suspect said his uncle had bought the TV, but it was determined the TV had not been purchased through a store register, Taylor's report states. The suspect had previously been issued a criminal trespass warning for Wal-Mart.

Officer Zane Taylor was dispatched Monday to the Law Enforcement Center, where a man reported someone had stolen his credit card and made several purchases in Temple.

A woman told Sgt. Art Shannon she was assaulted Saturday while attending a wedding reception at a local banquet room.
