Funeral services for Robert McDowell, age 82, of Brownwood will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel, with Richard Hetzel officiating. Interment will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
He passed away on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at his home in Brownwood.
Robert was born on Jan. 29, 1930, to James and Helen (Crist) McDowell in Pittsburgh, Penn. On June 8, 1956, he was married to Jean Dunlap. They were married 55 years. Robert served in the Army Air Force and the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner and member of the American Legion and VFW. Robert worked for the Police Department for 15 years and retired from Phillips Drisco Pipe.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter; and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Jean McDowell of Brownwood; one son, Kenny Dunlap of Temple; one daughter, Christy Primich and husband Paul of Brownwood; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; also three sisters and two brothers.
