Everyone is invited.
That's the message Kelly Crenshaw extends to the community as the church Crenshaw pastors, New Beginnings, and five other churches prepare for this Sunday's Thanksgiving Feast and Festival of Praise.
At no cost, people in the community are invited to come to the Brownwood Coliseum Sunday evening, beginning at 6 p.m., for a community Thanksgiving meal that will include turkey and dressing.
This will be the second year for the feast. Six churches — New Beginnings, High Mesa Cowboy Church, Abundant Life, New Life Assembly of God, Greater Faith Community Church and Trinity Chapel — have joined together to put on the meal.
Sodexo is preparing the turkey and dressing, and the churches are responsible for other aspects of the event such as decorating
"It's kind of a come-one, come-all thing," Crenshaw said. "Everyone's invited and it's completely free."
Music will be provided by the praise bands of the churches.
Just under 1,000 people ate at last year's event, and a little more are expected this year.
"We're not spotlighting any one church," Crenshaw said. "This is all of us coming together and hopefully glorifying Christ. We just want to be a blessing to the community.
"It's as much about churches coming together as it is feeding the hungry," Crenshaw said. "It's about rallying around the cross. The election's over. We're going to rally around the cross.
"We're not Republican Christians and Democratic Christians. We're Christians."
