A rockin' good time.
Gina Jameson, executive director of Big Brother Big Sisters of Brown County, said that's what to expect beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday at Howard Payne University's Mabee Center, when Big Brothers Big Sisters will have its annual Wheels and Deals reverse auction
This year's project is billed as Wheels and Deals Rockin' and Rollin'. Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) will raffle off a brand new vehicle — the winner's choice of a Dodge Journey, a Toyota Camry or a Ford F-150 extended cab pickup.
A raffle ticket holder and a guest will be treated to a dinner and entertainment at the Mabee Center, which is included in the cost of the ticket.
Sodexo will serve a buffet dinner and the band Crawfish will play music of the "Rockin' and Rollin' '50s."
"Everything's going good. We're making final arrangements, selling all those last minute tickets," Jameson said. "We are going to have a rockin' good time. I am excited."
You get a raffle ticket by donating $100 to Big Brothers Big Sisters, and if you don't need a new vehicle, you can designate some worthy person or your favorite charity to be the winner.
The number of entries will be limited to 750, and you don't have to be present to win.
It's not too late to get a ticket. In fact, tickets will be available Friday at multiple locations. From 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, they will be available at KOXE Radio, 300 Carnegie.
On Friday, the multiple locations are:
• Citizens National Bank
• Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce
• KOXE Radio
• Underwood's Cafeteria
• Big Country Ford
• Stanley Dodge
• Brownwood Chamber of Commerce
• Early Chamber of Commerce
• Big Brothers Big Sisters office
• Mills County State Bank
• Bruner Auto Group
BBBS board member Leonard Underwood explained the process of the reverse auction.
BBBS will start the raffle in which entries will be eliminated, one by one, until a single entry remains.
The "deal" part starts when the drawing gets down to the final 12 entries. If your ticket has already been eliminated, you can bid on an extra ticket in your name to go in the hopper to be the "Lucky 13th" ticket. Then after three more tickets are drawn and it is down to the final 10 entries, there will be an auction where individuals can make bids to purchase of of those tickets from the owners and give themselves a chance to win the new vehicle.
