Nearly 40 floats, led by the Ballinger Bearcat marching band, marched Saturday, November 24 in the traditional Christmas in Olde Ballinger parade making their way down Hutchings Avenue, and getting area residents in the mood for the upcoming Christmas season.

Despite there was no arts and crafts or booths this year, the parade hauled a large crowd downtown, wishing to see Santa Claus, who rode on top of a Ballinger Fire Department firetruck.

The annual parade was topped by the crowning of the Junior Miss Merry Christmas, at Higginbotham’s, on Eighth Street. Dakota Boone was elected the new 2012-2013 Junior Miss Merry Christmas, Caitlin Virden was the first runner up and McKenzie Arrott was elected second runner up.
