Once again, the wonderful people in central Texas made Thanksgiving special by serving 2,006 meals to their friends and neighbors at the 29th annual Community Thanksgiving Feast hosted by Howard Payne University. The joyful spirit and smiles at the Mabee University Center made the event very special for everyone who participated.
Volunteers served 830 guests at the Mabee Center while others delivered or prepared 1,176 meals to be enjoyed at homes in Brownwood and Early. Words cannot adequately express my sincere appreciation for our volunteers and those whose donations made the meal possible. Special thanks also go to the staff at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce for taking meal reservations; Shenna Stout at KTXS News, Liz Gonzalez at KTAB News, and the Brownwood Bulletin for promoting the event; and Howard Payne's Sodexo Food Service staff for preparing the outstanding meal.
We only need to watch national news broadcasts to realize how blessed we are to live in Brownwood where special people make serving others an important part of their daily lives. My prayer is that the Lord will continue blessing our community and the people who make this a great place to live and work.
