Shortly after 7:15 p.m., members of the Bangs Volunteer Fire Department and the Brownwood Fire Department responded to a truck fire at a home on the 2600 block of CR 135.
Kenneth Elliott, 80, and his family were watching television when he heard the horn of his truck went off. His truck was parked in the carport and was in flames.
“I didn’t realize it was on fire until I heard the horn blaring,” Elliott said. “I just bought the truck about three days ago.”
The fire was quickly extinguished and Bangs Fire Chief Dennis Lilley looked over the truck with Elliott.
“It does look accidental,” Lilley said. “I showed Mr. Elliott where some of the wires were charred, which is usually a sign of an electrical problem.”
Brownwood Fire Marshal Buddy Preston was dispatched to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
