With the start of Spring Break only four days away, some parents in the Brown County area are trying to decide what plans to make for their children.
Luckily, options are still available for parents who haven’t had a chance to register their children for any Spring Break camps.
The First Church of Nazarene will be hosting a Fame camp from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 11-15 at the church, located on the corner of seventh and Avenue I. The camp will be a place for children to learn about God, playing sports and other fun activities, including cheerleading and singing songs.
The camp is $25 per child and $15 for each additional child in the family. Parents are asked to pack their children's lunch and to include their name on it. The camp is open for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.
Registration forms can be picked up from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Coach Hood’s One-day Vault Camp
Coach Don Hood will be hosting a one-day Vault camp from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12 at the Brownwood High School track, located at 2100 Slayden. The one-day camp is for all pole-vaulters, sixth grade through masters, who would like to improve their skills. Hood will be teaching the techniques that have helped Abilene Christen become one of the premier vault schools in the NCCA.
“The goal of the Spring Break camp is to prepare and fine tune your vault for the spring season,” Hood said. “Valuable tips and strategies are emphasized to all campers.”
Registration for the camp can be done online at www.3dhood.com under the online registration link or morning of the camp. Participants must bring a copy of the release form with them if they are registering the morning of the camp, which is available on the website. Check-in for the camp will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Participants are asked to bring a helmet (not a bicycle helmet), training flats and spikes and workout clothes and gloves. Poles will be provided at the camp, and helmets will be available to purchase at the camp for those who do not have a helmet.
The cost of the camp is $100.
The First Baptist Church in Brownwood will be hosting Champ Camp from March 11-15. Champs Camp is a Christian camp for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.
The camp is a cross between a sports camp, arts camp and a vacation Bible school. The camp focuses on teaching the basic principles of football, basketball, soccer and volleyball along with offering the children time in the activity center where they can pick what activities they want to do.
Registration for the camp can be done online at www.fbcbrownwood.org and the cost of the camp is $68 for one child and $63 for each additional child in a family.
Children are asked to bring a lunch and athletic shoes to camp each day.
