The Brownwood Jaycees will be hosting Rattlesnake Roundup drawing contest for students in kindergarten through third grade.

“We wanted to get kids involved in the roundup,” said Patrick McLaughlin, vice-president of the Brownwood Jaycees. “Each entry has one free kids’ pass for the roundup.”

For the contest, students must draw a rattlesnake, cowboy or cowgirl on the entry form. Entry forms are available at East Elementary, Woodland Heights Elementary and inside the office at Heartland Mall. All drawing must be completed and turned in by 8 p.m. Saturday, March 16 at the Brownwood Jaycees’ booth at the roundup.

“We’re really hoping for a big turnout,” McLaughlin said. “We’re hoping to build up the contest over the years.”

Judging will take place on Sunday, March 17, and winners will be announced at 7 p.m. Monday at the Heartland Mall. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places for each grade.

First place will receive a deluxe art kit and second and third places will receive gift certificates.
