Robert “Pappy” Spencer, age 77, of Brownwood went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 7, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the New Life Church in Brownwood. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home, 800 Center Ave. in Brownwood. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early.

Robert was born on Oct. 9, 1935, in Annona, Texas, to Jon Robert and Irene Tucker Spencer and had lived in Brownwood for the past 42 years. He was married to Edna Stires on April 10, 1955, and together they raised four children. Robert worked at 3M as a Machine Operator and was a member of the New Life Church. He enjoyed sports, tinkering in his shed and fishing. He was always on the lookout for aluminum cans to recycle so he could finance his next fishing trip. He loved having coffee with his friends at Texas bank, and when the weather was too bad to fish, he would stay home and do puzzles.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Edna “Nanny” Spencer; children, Carole Ann Hood and husband Michael of Richmond Hill, Ga., Glenn Harris Spencer and wife Roberta of Brownwood, Lisa LaToya Powers and husband Jonathan of Brownwood and Glenn Harris Spencer Jr. of Brownwood; brothers, Jimmy Ray Spencer and wife Jeanette of Amarillo, Texas, and Raymond Lee Spencer, and wife Linda of Clarksville, Texas; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
