When Katy’s Steakhouse closed several years ago, several residents were afraid the steakhouse best known for its delicious food and friendly atmosphere would never be seen again. Fortunately, local residents Clint and Jami Tunnell bought Katy’s, restored it and are making new improvements to the steakhouse.

Clint Tunnell’s family has been in the Blanket area since 1874. He and his wife hated to see the restaurant close and wanted to re-open it for the community.

Katy’s Steakhouse opened its doors officially on December 1, 2012, since, the word has gotten out about Katy’s through local residents and beyond.

“We are known for a unique atmosphere that matches the uniqueness of the food,” said Clint Tunnell.

Numerous comments on the steakhouse’s Facebook page noted how nice and refreshing the atmosphere is at Katy’s as well as the delicious food. Fittingly, their slogan is “where friends meet.”

“We want customers who come into Katy’s to know they are welcome and when they leave, we want them to feel and know they are appreciated,” said Clint Tunnell.

The official grand opening of Katy’s Steakhouse will be held on March 21-23. The weekend special will be Black Angus prime rib dinner for two, which includes a drink, salad bar and choice of potato for $39.99 or $21.99 for a single serving.

“We wanted to have an official grand opening to commemorate spring and the warmer weather,” said Clint Tunnell.

Katy’s Steakhouse is open Thursday - Saturday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. To make a reservation for the grand opening weekend or for more information, call (325) 748-3100.
