Three people were killed in an early morning fire Monday that destroyed a single-wide mobile home near Lake Brownwood, sheriff's officials said.
Authorities had not identified the victims as of 8 a.m., sheriff's Capt. Tony Aaron said, and their genders had not been determined.
The Lake Bridge Volunteer Fire Department responded at 3:15 a.m. to a call of a home fully engulfed in flames in the 6900 block of Shannon Drive.
Personnel on the scene initially said two bodies were discovered.
Two of the victims were in a bedroom and one was in the kitchen area, Aaron said.
"We're in the process of trying to identify them and notify next of kin if we can make positive identification," Aaron said.
Brownwood Fire Marshal Buddy Preston was out of town and an arson investigator from Jones County was en route to the scene, Aaron said.
Sheriff Bobby Grubbs said there had been no indication as of early Monday morning that arson was involved.
