Lanny Bush's transfer to the Brown County Jail last week from Tom Green County was done "more for housekeeping than anything else," District Attorney Micheal Murray said.
Bush, 53, has filed several pre-trial motions that will be heard in 35th District Court, and the decision was made to transfer Bush to Brown County after his trial for online impersonation, which had been scheduled for sometime in March in Tom Green County, was delayed, Murray said.
Bush faces online impersonation charges in both Tom Green and Brown counties in connection with the Michele Reiter case. Reiter, of Brownwood, was last seen on Sept. 10, and her body was discovered on Sept. 24 in a shallow grave in Coleman County. Bush is a former boyfriend of Reiter's.
Bush is set for arraignment in 35th District Court on April 1.
Several hand-written motions filed by Bush are on file in 35th District Clerk Jan Brown's office. The motions include requests for a change of venue, the dismissal of charges, a request to have his court-appointed attorney dismissed, claims of misconduct by court personnel and complaints that his motions are being ignored.
Murray declined to comment on when or if Bush will face additional charges related to Reiter.
In a jailhouse interview with the San Angelo Standard Times in October, Bush denied any involvement in Reiter's disappearance.
