Texas State Technical College West Texas is hosting the 2013 Welding Competition on Friday. More than 30 students from nine area high schools will compete. The event begins at 10:00 a.m. and there are two major portions. In the on-site skills section, students will showcase their talents by completing two butt welds using the shield metal arc welding process. Additionally, these participants will take a written exam. The Projects section of the competition, is when the completed entries the students bring are categorized and judged. Event sponsors include: Air Gas, Loadcraft, Lincoln, and the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce.
The TSTC mobile welding lab will be on location as well. The lab will be open to the public to view or even try their hand at welding. TSTC Student Government Association will be serving a Brisket Lunch that is open to the public. Plates are $8 each.
