It’s going to be a night of good food and wine all benefiting the Corinne T. Smith Animal Center.

“This event is huge for us,” CTSAC Administrator Manager Freda Day said. “The shelter has grown and changed so much. This event lets us close the year out in the black. If we didn’t do this, then we couldn’t provide some of the programs and services we offer.”

Doors for tonight’s event will open at 5:30 p.m. Friday for residents to get a preview of the live and silent auction items. Food will be served starting at 6:30 p.m. and the live auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. with Rex Tackett.

“We have so many wonderful items that have been donated,” Day said. “This year, all of the items will be in the overflow tent along with the band, Sun Duo, which will help with space.”

Some of the items available in live auctions include a golf package from the Brownwood Country Club, a turquoise stamped leather snake skin ottoman with a red letter Dooney Burke purse, drink it up package including two wine tasting tours donated by the Republic Beverage, a weekend in Cloudcroft, N.M., donated by Dr. and Mrs. David and Peggy Morales, a guitar signed by Gary P. Nunn, Rick Springfield, Wade Bowen, Three Shades of Blue, Kinky Friedman and several other artists, donated by Bob Garrett with Lone Star Beer, wooden airplane with two tickets for Southwest Airlines; dinner for two at Rancho Loma and a granite lazy Susan from Texas Custom Interiors donated by Dr. and Mrs. Allan and Betty Cass and much more.

The items for both the live and silent auction will be on display starting at 5:30 p.m. and the silent auction will close at approximately 30 minutes after the live auction ends. Rex Tackett will lead the live auction.

“Thanks to all of the generous sponsors who helped us put on this year’s event,” Day said. “With their gracious donations, 100 percent of the proceeds raised will go towards the shelter.”

Tickets will be available at the door for $50. For ore information about CTSAC, visit their website at or by calling (325) 646-0617.
