What is Early and why do we want to go there?

That’s the question Keith Godwin, a tourism marketing consultant, posed to the Early Chamber of Commerce members attending the March luncheon.

“In this century, image is everything,” Godwin said. “Whether you’re a home entrepreneur or a small business, Early’s image is key for bringing in visitors.”

Godwin shared her analysis of the early Chamber’s website and Facebook Fan page and then showcased the Pecos Chamber of Commerce’s website, which she help revamp.

“After looking at the Chamber’s website next to some of the other Early website, it’s hard to tell them apart,” Godwin said. “The images used don’t tell much of a story, and images should tell visitors a story.”

Godwin stressed the importance of having an updated website with images that will invite and draw potential clients and visitors into the website and area.

“You have to plant your images to tell your story,” Godwin said. “Once you have established your image, use your website to promote it and be sure to use social media and print to promote it as well.”

While Godwin pointed out ways the Early Chamber of Commerce needed to improve the community’s image, she also noted the items they have done right.

“Coming into town, I saw the QR codes and that’s a good start,” Godwin said. “It’s amazing on what Wanda has done with her staff.”

Sponsors for the March luncheon were Brent Moseley with Prudential Ross Real Estate and the Brownwood Regional Medical Center’s Outpatient Imaging & Breast Center.
