COLEMAN ? Graveside services for George Edward “Tinker” Cantrell, 64, of Lake Brownwood and formerly of Coleman, with military honors were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 25, at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion, with Pastor Edmund Wheeless officiating. Services were under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
He died Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Veterans Hospital in Temple.
He was born Feb. 22, 1949, to Marvin “Bill” Aaron Cantrell and Minnie Grace Croft Cantrell in Taft, Calif. He was married to Mary Lois Smith in 1969. In April, 1971, he joined the U.S. Army. Mary and George divorced in 1979. He was married to Anna Nelson. She preceded him in death in 1999. He remarried Mary on April 3, 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Cantrell of Lake Brownwood; four children, Steven Edgar and wife Stacie of Coleman, Susan Dawson and husband Jerry of Coleman, Aaron Mike and wife Jamie of Rockport and Edward Cantrell and wife Chancadee of Corpus Christi; brother, Arthur Dale Cantrell of Huntsville; adopted brother, Marvin “Pete” Howard Cantrell and wife Becky of Mississippi; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
