Raymond Sumner Cooley Jr., age 73, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, in Snyder. Family visitation for Mr. Cooley will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Wright Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, at the Word Is Life Deliverence Church in Snyder, with the Rev. Tony Woffard officiating. Burial will follow in Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Wright Colonial Funeral Home.
Mr. Cooley was born on July 5, 1940, in Billings, Mont., to Raymond Sumner Colley Sr. and Dorothy Herman. He was married to Shirley Lynn Hoozer on March 15, 1969, in Lampasas, Texas. He serviced in the Air Force as Air Police. He worked in car restoration. He was apart of Snyder Wheels and DeMolay. He starting working on engines when he was 13 years old. He liked motor cycles, Antique Cars, Race Cars, Remote Control Aircraft and Boats, and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Cooley of Snyder, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Wendy Cooley of Snyder, Texas, and Raymond Sumner and Cheryl Cooley of Lattabra, Calif.; special adopted son, David and Sandra Keith of Brady, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Thomas Harper of Brownwood, Texas, and Nona and Bob Buckey of Houston, Texas; grandsons, Marcus Berniard of Brownwood, Texas, Marshal Hoozer of Austrailia, Richard Robbins, Jeffery Cooley of San Marcus, Texas, Matthew Cooley of Lattabra, Calif., Andrew Cooley of Lattabra, Calif., Gaeron Cooley, of Snyder, Texas, Paxton Cooley of Snyder, Texas; granddaughters, Rachael Berniard of Brownwood, Texas, Amanda Cooley of Kerrville, Texas, Heather Cooley of Snyder, Texas, Laurie Robbins, Dori Cooley of Montana; nine great-grandchildren, Jayden Ray Berniard, Gemma Hoozer, including Henry Hoozer, along with six others; and many friends whom regarded him as Dad.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
