Proceeds from the fund-raiser will go towards helping CASA in the Heart of Texas, Inc reach its goal of having a CASA volunteer for every child that needs an advocate. The CASA program has been serving abused and neglected children in the foster care system since 2001.
District Judge Stephen Ellis had sought resources to enable him to make a better decisions for the children brought before him in court. He played an instrumental role in bringing CASA to Brown County.
CASA trains and supports quality volunteers to advocate for the best interest of the children in an effort to find each child a safe, permanent and nurturing home. CASA volunteers are the eyes and ears of the court and ensure that the child has a voice through the difficult maze of the legal and child welfare systems.
“Each one of us has a responsibility to ensure the safety of our children,” said Michelle Wells, Executive Director of CASA in the Heart of Texas.
April is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month, which makes this a perfect month for CASA to hold the benefit.
CASA is a private, non-profit organization and depends on the support of the community through volunteers, board members, as well as financial support in order to fulfill the mission.
“We feel privileged to live in such a generous, supportive community that cares about its children. Your support has enabled us to better serve abused and neglected children,” said Wells.
They are selling 250 tickets for the fund-raiser and tickets are $40 each. They are available at the CASA office located at 901 Avenue B in Brownwood, KOXE, the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce or through a CASA board member.
