SWEETWATER — Wanda Joyce Norsworthy, 71, of Brownwood died Tuesday, July 2, 2013. She was born the first child of six to Harvey and Lily Mae Loyd in Post, Texas, on Jan 21, 1942.

Wanda was a great example for her children and for all those who knew her. She was always happiest when she was helping others in need. She worked very hard, and saw to it that the job was done right. Wanda loved life and all the beauty of God’s creations, especially animals. And, oh how they loved her in return. Her motherly touch nursed many of her pets back to health from certain death and they lived long and healthy lives afterward.

She is survived by her husband, Henry Norsworthy of Early, Texas; two daughters, Pamela Sprinkle Oatman and husband Steve of Sweetwater, and Debbie Higgins of Fort Worth; and three sons, Phillip Sprinkle and wife Donna of Leonardtown, Maryland, Jay Owens and wife Melinda of Snyder, and Ellington (Bit) Owens of Sweetwater. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Channing Tyler Hanzel, Garrett Sprinkle, Serena Sprinkle, Austin Owens, Reed Owens, Bradley Higgins, Ashley Owens, Chelsea Owens and Abigail Owens.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her first husband, Ronald Sprinkle; and brother, Duane Loyd.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at McCoy Chapel of Memories, under the direction of McCoy’s Funeral Home in Sweetwater.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of her life to the American Cancer Society, 209 South Danville Drive, Abilene, Texas, 79605.
