An Abilene-based partnership with Buffalo Wild Wings Bar and Grill franchises in Abilene, San Angelo, Wichita Falls and Lawton, Okla., is adding a fifth restaurant in Commerce Square in Brownwood.

Michael Burton of Wingsport LP said plans are to open the Brownwood restaurant in late November or early December with about 120 employees. The restaurant will be located in a building that is now empty on the east end of Commerce Square.

The restaurant will seat just over 200, which is somewhat smaller than most Buffalo Wilds Wings restaurants, which typical seat about 270, Burton said.

Construction will begin in August at renovating the exterior and interior of the building, which "right now (is) an empty shell," Burton said.

Burton said he is aware of Facebook comments from posters who have expressed approval of a Buffalo Wild Wings in Brownwood. "We're just as excited I like to think most restaurants have customers and Buffalo Wild Wings has fans," Burton said.

"We're humbled by (the response) and hope we can deliver what customers are expecting."

Philips Edison, the company that owns Commerce Square, had confirmed earlier that Buffalo Wild Wings has a lease for the Commerce Square space.
