The Salvation Army Service Center of Brownwood is taking applications for school supplies for Brown County from 2-6 p.m. starting Monday, July 15-Wednesday, July 17, and from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, July 18, and Friday, July 19. The are trying to set up extra signup sites in other towns as well. Call for more information about them at (325) 646-5369.
Last year they helped 1,003 children, and expect the numbers to increase to over 1,200 this year. With this expected increase, they want to receive the children's information ASAP so they can better prepare for purchasing supplies. Parents or those taking care of the children need to bring: adult's picture ID and information on children; school report card, Medicaid card, food stamp letter, shot record, or birth certificate.
Applications will be accepted at The Salvation Army Service Center, 403 Lakeway Drive, Brownwood, Texas. You may reach the Director, Donna Harris at (325) 646-5369, leave a message if no one answers.
Volunteers are also needed to help with registering and in the kitchen lunch program.
There are so many children that will face starting to school this year without the required supplies. Their hope is to give the basics to as many children as possible.
