BANGS — Superintendent Bill Foster told the board of trustees Monday night during the group’s regular monthly meeting that the timeline established for the installation of the synthetic turf field at Dragon Memorial Stadium is still on track.

“We are still online,” Foster said. “The rain has not slowed down the work one bit. It has just been Mother Nature’s way of packing everything down.

The board approved the $784,668 expenditure at a special meeting June 24. The project is set to be complete prior to the first home gave versus Goldthwaite Sept. 13. The 10-year note for the project will require an estimated $96,000 annual payment, with the first not being due until 2015.

In other business, the board:

Heard from high school principal Vick Orlando who reported that Megan Jackson and Amelia Hubbard had returned from the FCCLA national competition in Nashville, where they earned silver medals. “They represented us well,” Orlando said. “I am very proud of them.”

Approved purchasing student insurance from the Brokerage Store for the 2013-2014 school year.

Approved continuing a 30-plus year relationship with Porter Insurance who will provide the district’s property insurance for the next school year.

Approved the teacher appraisal calendar for the upcoming school year.
