Kim Peterson, executive director of the Brownwood Reunion, said she is “excited” about the musical acts which will highlight Celebration Stage during the 13th installment of the yearly event.

“With the headliners and opening musicians this year, we are being able to cater to different generations and musical tastes,” Peterson said. “There will definitely be something for everyone.”

Everclear, the certified-platinum selling band that rose to fame in the 90s, will headline Celebration Stage Sept. 20. “Everclear will reach out to their fans and may leave Brownwood some new fans too,” Peterson said.

Forming in 1992 in Portland, Ore., Everclear has produced eight albums, including their highest selling album to date, “Sparkle and Fade.”

Cory Morrow, Texas country singer and songwriter, has been named the headliner for Sept. 21. “Cory Morrow has a huge following and we are lucky to have him as a part of the Brownwood Reunion this year,” Peterson said.

Morrow has sold more than 200,000 albums and in 2002, “Outside the Lines” climbed to No. 28 on the Billboard Country Album chart.

Closing out this year’s Brownwood Reunion on Sept. 22 will be Brownwood native Van Wilks, an electric and acoustic guitarist who was named Best Electric Guitarist and Best Acoustic Guitarist at the annual SXSW Music Awards in Austin.

“On Sunday, we are getting one of the best, if not the best guitar player alive,” Peterson said. “Having him here is very exciting.”

Wilks’ musical talents were also mentioned in the book “Rock + Roll Gearhead,” penned by ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons.

Peterson said nearly every act, opener and headliner, have a common bond. “Most of them are either from Brownwood or they have some type of roots in Brownwood.”

Advanced tickets for the concerts being offered at Celebration Stage will be available from Aug. 1 until Sep. 19 at a cost of $25. After Sep. 19, tickets will cost $35. Each concert-goer will receive a wrist band which will allow admission to any or all of the concerts during the three-day period.

Tickets can be purchased at the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce, Early Chamber of Commerce, Brownwood Music, KOXE and Wendlee Broadcasting.

Peterson pointed out that purchasing one concert ticket for the headlining acts through retail ticket services is more expensive than the wristbands which will allow those in attendance to see several different concerts.

“You are getting Everclear, Cory Morrow and Van Wilks and all of these great opening acts for a good price,” Peterson said. “It is a great savings and will definitely be worth the money.”
