Virginia McBride, 86, of Rising Star passed away Friday, July 19, 2013, at her home with her family by her side. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m.. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the May Methodist Church with Tae Beckling officiating, assisted by Frank Gray. Burial will follow at May Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Higginbotham Funeral Home in Cross Plains.
She was born on March 16, 1927 in Rising Star to Raymond and Virginia Harriett (Alford) Gray. She graduated from Rising Star High School, where she was a cheerleader. She married Cloyce E. McBride in Stephenville on Dec. 7, 1945. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist Church in Rising Star for her entire life.
She loved writing and had a love of antique books, and had an article published in a magazine regarding her design ideas. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. She was active in her community and was respected and loved for her contributions.
Virginia is survived by her son, Barry McBride of Austin; two daughters, Brenda McBride of Dallas and Sandra McBride of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers, Joe Gray of Arkansas and Frank Gray of Santa Anna; two granddaughters and three great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 11 brothers and sisters.
