In an effort to provide support for the young professionals in the areas, the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Corporation and the Coggin Avenue Baptist Church’s Young Adult Small Group have teamed together to create the Young Leaders of Brown County.

“Our goal is to help develop our up and coming leaders,” said Missi Malone, director of member services for the chamber. “The community has been blessed with great leaders like Putter Jarvis and Stuart Coleman. We want to prepare the next generation of leaders.”

The Young Leaders of Brown County will host its first mixer from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 at the Brownwood Country Club. The summer mixer will be held at the country club’s newly renovated pool.

“I would like to see between 40 to 50 people at the mixer,” Malone said. “It will be a great opportunity for the young professionals to network and start building relationships with other members of the community.”

The new group is open to anyone between the ages of 22 to 35 who are interested in networking with other young professionals and building their leadership skills.
