Ruby J. Roberts, age 98, of Abilene and formerly of Coleman County died Friday morning in Abilene.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Brown Ranch Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home of Coleman. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.

She was born Oct. 27, 1914, in Coleman, the daughter of Oscar and Alma Wester Yates. She was married to Granvil J. Roberts on Oct. 24, 1930, in Coleman. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1996. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts lived many years in the Brown Ranch Community before moving to Coleman and later to Abilene. For the past few years, Mrs. Roberts has lived in the Wisteria Place Retirement in Abilene and was active in the church’s Senior Citizen activities until health problems prevented her from doing so.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill Yates and Jimmy Yates; a sister, Beatrice Yates Wilson; and an infant daughter, Candice Ann.

Mrs. Roberts is survived by a daughter, Joyce Lee Brown of Amarillo, Texas, and a son, Doyle Glyn Roberts and wife Willeen of Abilene. She also has four grandchildren, Becky Sue Roberts Decker and husband Wendell of Slaton, Texas, Gregory Glyn Brown and wife Heather of Pampa, Texas, Bret Walter Brown and wife Annette of Sunray, Texas and Randall Wayne Brown and wife Diane of College Station, Texas. Eight great-grandchildren also survive, Ashleigh Decker Jones and husband Travis of Coppell, Texas, Tristan Brown and wife Whitney of Idabell, Oklahoma, Shea Brown and wife Natali of Pampa, Texas, Jenna Brown Tyler and husband Adam of Amarillo, Texas, Jase Brown of Sunray, Texas, Joel Brown of Borger, Texas, Issac Brown and Jessica Brown of College Station, Texas. Four great-great-grandchildren also survive, Kinsley Tyler, Sauter Brown, Austin Jones, and Leighton Tyler.
