There’s still time to get tickets for the 20th Annual Mystery Dinner Theater (MDT) and Dance to benefit the Ark Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Shelter. The event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Brownwood Regional Airport Hangar. This year, the dance will feature the Bill Smallwood Swing Orchestra. There will be silent and live auctions, a steak dinner, drinks and décor of the 1940’s era when swing was king.

“This year we are going to honor Richard and Vi Williams for their longtime volunteerism with the Coy Pullara Unsung Hero Award .” Ark Shelter Executive Director Terri Densman said. The Coy Pullara Unsung Hero Award is given each year in the memory of Coy Pullara, who was instrumental in helping to create the Ark Shelter here in Brownwood. Richard is a Baptist minister and the Hospice Chaplan. His wife Vi is a Pink Lady and a volunteer for the Good Samaritan. She was also one of the ladies who helped create the Ark with Coy Pullara.

The steak dinner for the event will be catered by Humphrey Pete’s and will include an 8 oz. sirloin, roasted new potatoes, green beans, salad, roll and dessert. Humphrey Pete’s is a locally owned restaurant known for its great food and excellent service and catering.

The Ark Shelter is a 501c3 organization to provide a safe haven for victims of sexual and domestic abuse. Oftentimes, there are also children involved, and getting them out of an abusive situation can break the cycle of abuse. The Shelter services the tri-county area of Brown, Coleman and Comanche areas.

Tickets are just $45 and it’s easy to purchase them this year. You can go online to www.arkshelter.org, or call the Ark Shelter at (325) 643-2699.
