When the Early City Council convenes on Tuesday, it will have a lot on its to-do list.

Among the action items appearing on the agenda is considering an authorization for the city to purchase property.

At its Jan. 28 regular meeting, the council went into executive session under the statutory exemption the state open meetings law in order to discuss a possible purchase of property but did not include on the agenda any action at that time.

In addition to a possible purchase, the Early Police Department may be making an acquisition of its own.

The council is scheduled to discuss and consider a request from the department to reinstate a K-9 unit.

At its first meeting of 2014, Early Chief of Police David Mercer presented the idea, but no action was taken at that time.

The final action item on Tuesday’s agenda is consideration of approving a resolution ordering a May 10 election to elect three council members and providing details relating to the holding of that election.
