STERLING CITY The District 6-2A third seed Bangs Lady Dragons upended District 5-2A runner-up Kermit, 51-34, in Region I-2A girls basketball bi-district playoff action here Monday night.

With the victory, Bangs (17-14) is tentatively scheduled to face Bowie Thursday night at Tarleton State University in Stephenville.

The Lady Dragons led 11-9 after one quarter, but Kermit pulled even at 20 at halftime. Bangs dominated the third quarter as the Lady Dragons opened a 38-24 lead heading into the fourth period.

Kinsie Ward and Kady Kyle finished with 15 points apiece to pace the Bangs attack, trailed by 10 points from Haley Pitts, five each from Charly Lipsey and Amber Jones and four points from Raelee Francois.

The Lady Dragons basketball team joins the volleyball team as bi-district champions for the 2013-2014 school year.
