On Saturday, Jan. 25, Prose and Poetry students from Brownwood High School traveled to compete in a UIL tournament at Brady High School. The team came away with Speech Sweepstakes in addition to the following awards won by students who placed in their events: Shannon Parrish (first place – Prose), Megan Pointer and Brooklyn Britton (tie for second place – Prose), Trey Fawcett (first place – Poetry), and Lindsey McKinney (fourth place – Poetry).
“I’m really proud of the students,” said BHS theater teacher, Larry Mathis. “This was the first tournament of the year for them to read in new UIL categories, and they read very well. We’re looking forward to a great year.”
