COLEMAN ó The Blanket Tigers simply didnít have enough offensive weapons to keep pace with the Cross Plains Buffaloes in a season-ending 49-31 bi-district round loss Monday night.
Blanket, the third seed from District 16-A Division II, tallied the gameís first point on a technical free throw, but Cross Plains chalked up the initial 12 points after the opening tip as the Tigers faced a double-digit deficit just 4:14 into the contest.
Cross Plains owned a 17-8 lead after one quarter which grew to 28-15 at halftime and 41-23 by the start of the fourth period.
Only three Tigers scored as Tyler Martinez led the way with 19 points, including 13 in the first half. Aaron Martinez chipped in 10 points, while Rodolfo Valle contributed a bucket with 2:52 to go.
For the Buffaloes, Holden Sinclair led the charge with 16 points followed by Cutter Halsel with 12, Josh Branch with 10, Colton McWilliams, Tyler Henderson and Justin Willis with three apiece and Tristen Stephenson with two points.
Blanket trailed by as many as 25 points, 49-24, late in the fourth period, but closed the game on a 7-0 run.
Cross Plains will face either Highland or Bronte later this week in the area round of the playoffs.
