The Brownwood Lady Lions softball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 4-3 victory over the Early Lady Horns Monday.

Originally scheduled to be played Tuesday, the game was moved up a day due to the Lady Lions basketball playoff game tonight.

Early struck first with a run in the top of the third inning, but Brownwood answered with three runs in the bottom half.

The Lady Horns pulled even at 3 in the top of the fourth, but the Lady Lions tallied the decisive run in the bottom of the inning.

Brownwood finished with 13 hits as Danyelle Gongora went 2-for-3 with the game-winning RBI. Ashley Gomez was 4-for-4 with a double; Kristen Fuentes finished 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a pair of walks; and Tori Burkett went 2-for-4 with a double.

In the circle, Alexis Larrea tossed a complete game for Brownwood, allowing two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and seven walks.

Both Brownwood and Early will compete in the Stephenville tournament beginning Thursday.
