PLANO The Brownwood Lions slipped to 1-1 on the season as they opened the Prestonwood Christian Academy tournament with an 8-5 loss to the host team Thursday afternoon.

The Lions struck for four runs in the top of the third inning, but PCA answered with five in the bottom of the third.

The deficit to grew to 6-4 after four innings and PCA expanded its lead to 8-4 after six frames.

The Lions were able to push a run across the board in the top of the seventh, but could not complete the comeback attempt.

Brownwood tallied 10 hits, but committed five errors in the field.

Seth Owen finished 3-for-4 with an RBI, Carson Cloy went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and Hayden Day and Justin Osteen contributed one hit and one RBI apiece. Bradly Durand added two hits and Cojo Guidry finished with one.

On the mound, Carson McAnally went the distance and gave up four earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts.

The Lions will face Fort Worth THESA at 12:15 p.m. today followed by Dallas Bishop Lynch at 4:45 p.m.
