STEPHENVILLE — The Brownwood Lady Lions finished with a win, a loss and a tie during pool play at the Honeybee Invitational Thursday.

The Lady Lions started the day with their third victory of the season in an 11-1 decision over San Saba.

Brownwood chalked up four runs in the top of the first inning and added seven in the second. The game ended in the third inning due to time limit.

The Lady Lions generated only four hits — two by Kristen Fuentes, who doubled, and one each by Danyelle Gongora and Victoria Sanchez — but drew nine walks — two each by Gongora, Kayla McFarden and Ashley Jones and one apiece by Ashley Gomez, Alexis Larrea and Tori Burkett.

Fuentes collected two RBIs while Sanchez added one.

In the circle, Larrea worked two innings and gave up one run on three hits with five strikeouts and two walks.

In their second game against Cisco, Brownwood settled for a 1-1 tie after four innings.

Both teams tallied their runs in the first inning.

Brownwood collected five hits — one each by Gomez, Fuentes, Gongora, Shelbi Winstead and Alyson Finnigan. Winstead also picked up the Lady Lion RBI.

Gomez tossed all four innings for Brownwood, yielding one run on three hits with nine strikeouts and two walks.

The Lady Lions’ final outing of the day was a 5-0 loss to Brock.

Brownwood surrendered single runs in the first and fourth innings, along with three in the third.

Offensively, the Lady Lions mustered just one hit off the bat of Finnigan.

In the circle, Finnigan got her first work of the season and gave up one run on three hits with three strikeouts. Gomez pitched 2.1 innings and allowed three earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts and a walk.

Brownwood (3-1-1) is slated to compete in bracket play beginning at 10:45 a.m. Saturday.
