DUBLIN — The Bangs Dragons got off to a quick start, but the No. 13 Breckenridge Buckaroos roared back for a 59-37 victory in Region I-2A area round playoff action Friday night.

The Dragons (18-9) — who improved from seventh in district a year ago to the second seed from 6-2A this year — led District 7-2A champion Breckenridge (26-1) by a 15-10 count after one quarter. Bangs’ lead peaked at seven points, 17-10, early in the second period.

Breckenridge closed the half with 17 of the last 25 points to grab a 27-25 edge at the break. In the third period, Bangs was outscored 19-6 as the Buckaroos carried a 46-31 advantage into the fourth period.

Scoring for the Dragons were Dalton Johnson with 14 points, Keegan Hall with eight, Brayden James and Josh Truelove with six each and Frankie Smith with three points.
