EARLY — The Early Longhorns suffered their first loss of the season, falling to Class 3A Abilene Wylie, 11-3, in Saturday’s Action Sports Invitational finale.
Early (3-1-1) trailed 3-0 before scoring its first run in the bottom of the third, and was down 11-1 before tacking on its last two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
The Longhorns finished with four hits — one each by Nick Alcorta, J.W Ledbetter, Kellan Jackson and Abel Hernandez. Jared Crouch finished with two RBIs.
On the mound, Christopher Johnston, Cody Jones and A.B. Harding combined to allow 13 hits with one strikeout and five walks.
Early travels to Anson at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Lago Vista 7, Bangs 2
BANGS — The Bangs Dragons slipped to 2-3 on the season with a 7-2 loss to Lago Vista in their Action Sports Invitational finale Saturday.
Leading 1-0 after three innings, Bangs yielded all seven runs in the top of the fourth.
Brady Glover was tagged with the loss as he allowed three earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and four walks.
Offensively for the Dragons, David Wells collected two hits while J.T. Newton added the third. Glover, Chance Beck and Daniel Hall each drew a walk.
Bangs will attempt to rebound at Breckenridge at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
